In 1979, Paul Krause recorded the 80th and 81st interceptions of his career, breaking Emlen Tunnell’s record of 79 during a game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams. The two picks, which came against quarterbacks Bob Lee and Vince Ferragamo, were the final interceptions of his 16-year career.

Krause finished with 81 career interceptions, then the most in NFL history, after playing for the Washington Redskins and Vikings from 1964 to 1979. A standout at the University of Iowa, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-NFL honors, and played in four Super Bowls while missing only two games in his career.
