Before becoming the NFL star, Christian Okoye had never played organized football until age 23. He originally came to the U.S. to compete in track and field as a discus thrower at Azusa Pacific University, where he won multiple national titles. After switching sports, he learned football so quickly that within just three years, he was drafted in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
