Hey Folks,

As Travis Kelce enters his 14th NFL campaign, whisperings about what comes after the final whistle are louder than ever. But while everyone assumed he’d step straight into a TV booth, the Chiefs star is quietly making plans that have nothing to do with broadcasting.

It’s not ownership, and it’s not media. So what exactly is Kelce building behind the scenes?

On December 15, 1984, Seattle Seahawks president Mike McCormack retired the number 12 jersey during a halftime ceremony to honor the fans' impact on the team's early success. This retirement happened long before the team ever went to a Super Bowl, proving how deeply embedded the fan culture was from the start. The term "12th Man" actually belonged to Texas A&M University, which trademarked it.

Seattle paid the university licensing fees for decades to use the phrase before pivoting to "The 12s" to avoid legal restrictions. Starting in 2003, the team introduced a pre-game ritual where a giant "12" flag is raised at the stadium by local celebrities, former players, or community heroes just before kickoff.
