The correct answer to yesterday’s question about the teams played in the first Super Bowl is Packers vs Chiefs in 1967

In Super Bowl history, winning the pre-game coin toss hasn’t been a sure path to victory. In fact, for many years the team that won the toss went on to lose the game, leading fans to talk about a so-called “coin toss curse.” For a long stretch (starting at Super Bowl XLIX), every Super Bowl coin-toss winner lost the game, and overall coin-toss winners have only won the championship around 42.4% of the time, which is less than half.

The streak finally ended in Super Bowl LVII (2023) when the Kansas City Chiefs won the toss and the game. They repeated that feat in 2024, slightly improving the overall win rate for toss winners.
