The 49ers once had one of the most talented backfields in the league. From 1954 to 1956, quarterback Y.A. Tittle lined up with fullback Joe Perry and halfbacks Hugh McElhenny and John Henry Johnson. Tittle delivered elite QB play, Perry was a prolific runner, McElhenny added elusiveness, and Johnson brought versatility. Though they never won a championship together, all four reached the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
