March 29, 2026 | Edition #354

The 2025 season has relegated the Browns to having just two options under center: a streaky Shedeur Sanders and a veteran in Deshaun Watson. On one hand, you have a second-year QB who never really avenged his precipitous Draft fall. On the other hand, there's Cleveland's biggest "swing-and-a-miss,” who hasn't seen the face of the field since 2024. However we reached this point, a QB competition has long been simmering, and now, there's finally some clarity on who's winning.

As the NFL Annual League Meeting kicks off today in Phoenix, three pivotal proposals are at the top of the docket that could fundamentally shift how we see the game in 2026.

  1. First, the league is considering a significant expansion of replay authority, allowing the NFL Officiating Department to consult with on-field crews to disqualify players for flagrant acts even when no penalty was initially called.

  2. Second, a shift in special teams strategy is on the table, with a proposal to allow teams to declare an onside kick at any point in the game, rather than being restricted to the fourth quarter while trailing.

  3. Finally, a unique team-led resolution from the Cleveland Browns seeks to extend the future of roster planning by allowing draft selections to be traded up to five seasons in advance, moving beyond the current three-year limit.
